Eat Healthy On Your Vacation To Be Able To Enjoy (And Remember) Every Moment By Jocelyn Sidwell H.C FNS NASM CPT May 2019 I am a warm weather gal. I get the exhilaration of skiing, but give me a beach and a bikini and I am happy! When my fiancé told me we were going to Puerto Rico for Christmas I was so excited! I’ve never been and hello warm weather in December! So, we called Jennifer with Travel Pros and off we went! Thank goodness she makes traveling so much easier, such a seamless experience. There are enough stresses in this world than to have to stress over planning a relaxing vacation. Am I right? I will always use her as my travel agent! We stayed close to Villa Montana, in Aguadilla, and wow is that resort gorgeous! We were right around the corner from Hobos and other surf spots. My fiancé is a huge surfer so we made sure we were centrally located. We checked out Wilderness a few times, hiked Survival Beach, paddle boarded at Crash Boats, it was glorious. We aren't big drinkers when we are on vacation because we want to wake up early and be ready for any adventures. But, let’s be real…. it’s vacation! So I made sure to lounge at Villa Montana with a fresh mojito! I actually was on a conference call drinking that mojito. Best. Conference. Call. EVER! We eat quite healthy, even on vacation. I’m a health coach, so it’s my lifestyle. Once of my favorite things to do is check out healthy local cuisine and any local farmers markets. Aguadilla nailed it! We came across Arepas to go and I was a giddy lil girl! The menu is SO good! Salads, juices, raw foods, and tons of arepas of course. Arepas are these lil stuffed breads made from corn. I opted for a veggie arepa, with a side of veggie juice annnnnnd a frozen raw food treat :) We went back every chance we got! The fresh fruit was of course to die for. The papayas and citrus fruits were plentiful. I even found local ginger and turmeric! Even on vacation I tend to cook. Again, those farmers markets are where it’s at for me! Vacation doesn't have to be some over eating gorgefest. You want to feel good, energetic and ready for each day to make the most of it. Eat right and you will enjoy your vacation more. You can eat too much pizza and get drunk at home.
Aguadilla was pure perfection. I can’t wait to go back! Bottom line, eat healthy on your vacation to be able to enjoy (and remember) every moment. Source local cuisine and farmers markets for an authentic experience. Pointer: when you do go to Aguadilla, look for sea glass. It’s everywhere!
